About Us

Kenny Angus originated in 1990 in northwest Iowa near Schaller, by Brian and Sue Kenny and their sons, who are fourth and fifth generation beef producers. With the sincere love of beef cattle and an abundance of wasted crop residue readily available, we set out to build a herd of high quality functional cows. Since finding enough grass in our area to sustain a large cow herd would be difficult, we wanted a smaller herd of " front pasture quality cows". We selected Angus because of their unlimited potential and their ability to improve the quality of beef in the marketplace today.

We have added two new donors that we are really excited about!! A daughter of GAR Precision 706 by Bushwacker 41-93 starts our lineup. She has a flush brother ,"Dr. J",
that is owned by ABS. Another top donor is GAR 6148 Emulation 559. She has powerful carcass traits and both have unlimited potential. Selling progeny and embryos.

Our goal is to breed cattle that excel in the economically important traits that keep our customers and us in a profitable position. Breeding for performance, moderate birth weights, good maternal traits and a highly desirable carcass have been the mainstay of our program. When the majority of our customers sell their cattle by the pound, we must have breed leading performance, without sacrificing maternal capabilities. Through the extensive use of artificial insemination, embryo transfer and rigid culling standards we get closer to these goals with each calving season. Our cow herd is AI mated to proven superior sires to take as much of the guess work out as possible. We aren't a proving ground for some new unproven bull. Although we are a relatively young herd, we are continually striving for genetic superiority!

We calve in early winter to be able to provide yearling bulls with the age and size needed by our customers. Breeding stock are marketed through the Iowa Beef Expo, Sioux Empire Farm Show, The Open to the World Bull Sale in Atkinson,Ne, Midland Bull Test, Iowa Angus Bull Test and The National Western Foundation Female Sale in Denver. Cattle are also sold privately off the farm.

With three active sons, Dustin (20), Tyler (12) and Dru (10) there is never a dull moment at our place! They enjoy all sports, school, 4-H, farming and helping with cattle whenever possible. The boys seem to have a love for black cattle just like their mom. Since there aren't any off the farm full time jobs to keep the farm afloat, and we haven't won the lotto yet, the cattle, hogs and crops have to do the job on their own. Everyone contributes with no outside help.

Dustin is a sophomore at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD with a major in Animal Science and Marketing.  This year he will be traveling with the SDSU livestock judging team.  In his spare time he likes to do some auctioneering.  He loves it and is a real natural at it.  So if you need some new fire on your auction block, give him a call!

We welcome you to Northwest Iowa anytime you can come for a visit.
