Here's a calving ease son of VDAR Rito 953 x VDAR Elluna 6204 that many have said is the
stoutest, thickest, and deepest made "953" son they have ever
seen. This
bull passes his easy fleshing, depth of body, spring of rib, high maternal
growth, and sound carcass traits on to his offspring. His daughters are very
impressive with their mass of body but yet staying very feminine. His sons are
thick, stout made bulls with a lot of muscle expression and they all have big
testicles.
Sire: VDAR Rito 953 was the top selling bull from the Van Dyke's in 1993
for $21,000. Known for calving ease, high fertility, high maternal and
easy fleshing traits. He sires excellent scrotal size in his sons and top females
everywhere he has been used.
Dam:
VDAR Elluna 6204, pictured as a
3 year old, was top selling female of the 1996 NILE for $10,000,
purchased by Krauth Angus Farm. Later at the same sale, Van Dyke`s bought
1/2 flush interest back. "Elluna 6204" is the main reason why "837" passes on
his high maternal, performance, and carcass traits. His
grandam, VDAR Elluna 4167, made Pathfinder her 1st three calves and is the top
performance and has the highest ultra sound ratios of IMF 3 @ 113 and REA 3 @
112 of all the Elluna's in the Van Dyke herd. His great grandam, the foundation
VDAR Elluna 97, sold for $36,000 in the fall of 1998 and has been one of the
most special females that the Van Dyke's have ever bred.
"6204" is
currently being flushed by Van Dyke's and Norris's to the top bulls in the
industry. This says a lot about this powerful cow family.
Keith Van
Dyke says "837" is the stoutest "953" son he has ever seen.
Clarence Van Dyke says this bull will sire tremendous females, look at every cow
in his pedigree. They are fabulous with a ton of proven production behind every
one them. Every cow in his pedigree that you can see is a donor cow. Look at
every bull in his pedigree, they have sired cows that have set the standard for
the Angus breed. Every bull that you see in his pedigree has been used to flush
cows. This has to be one of the top "953" sons to replace
"953" himself.
Words from Lee Van
Dyke:
Dear Brian,
Just a quick report on GKAF Rito 837. The calves we have by him are
super. It is incredible to see the growth that these calves possess with what
their light birth weight was. On the female side they are as clean front
ended as what the VDAR Lucys Boys are and have the extra broad back and muscle
that VDAR Rito 953 brings. At birth the calves came super easy. I do not
think that I have ever used a bull that will calve easier and today they are
right with all of the other sire groups, if not exceeding several of them.
I believe that "Rito 837" can turn around a poor animal in one
generation and I also feel that this is a bull that needs to be used by lots of
breeders. With the history behind him of excellent cows, coupled with superior
carcass traits, he is bound to make a great impact on the Angus breed.
Brian, I thank you for talking me into using this bull last year and he will be
a major part of our breeding program this year.
