Pictures 2005

I am going to show you my very amateur pictures and highlight our foundation "Lucy" cow in the first photos. She will be flushed this year to SAV Bandolier 1916 and to Big Rok Ole 450. We will see what other bulls we will use as the year goes on.

VDAR Lucy 4198 reg # 12169499 is one of those rare VDAR New Trend 933 daughters but just as important, she is a out of the Lucy cow family and one of the cows you see on her pedigree is VDAR Lucy 329 known to be the stoutest donors in the Lucy cow family that the Van Dykes every created. So many top production and performance donors are out of this very same cow family. It is hard to find "Lucy 329" this close in a pedigree.

Lucy 4198 is not a spring chicken, she is a 1994 model and looks like a 4 year old. She has excellent feet and legs, is easy fleshing, beautiful phenotype, picture perfect udder, deep bodied, has a lot of spring of rib, and a high maternal cow that is just a kitten for temperament. Longevity is a given with this cow.

She is nursing a 1916 bull calf that we will probably keep or at least keep an interest in. Several people have inquired about this deep, thick 1916 x 4198 son.

You can see by both pictures of Lucy 4198 she has weaned her calf but is still in pretty good condition after doing her job. She really is a cow that we are going to do our best to get more daughters from.

We only have two daughters of 4198 and one of her daughters I got a picture of is a GKAF Rito 837 daughter. Her name is TO 837 Lucy 221 reg # 14167646 pictured below.

The data on Lucy 221 is: Birth Wt. 72 lbs; Wean Wt. 535 (no creep) ratio 104; Yearling Wt. 1050 ratio 107. Scanned a 4.64 %IMF; 11.2 REA; .42 BF. Lucy 221's first calf last year was a 1916 heifer who is TO 1916 Lucy 422 reg # 14716098 also pictured below.

The data on Lucy 422 is: Birth Wt. 71 lbs; Wean Wt. 672 (no creep) ratio 109; Yearling Wt. 1054 ratio 104. Scanned a 6.61 %IMF; 11.0 REA; .57 BF.

Our other daughter of 4198 was bred by Van Dyke's who is VDAR Lucy 9559 reg # 13296046 The data on 9559 is: Birth Wt. 80 lbs; Wean Wt. 619 (no creep); Yearling Wt. 1232. She only ratioed 100 as we bought her before she was weaned and she had nothing to compete with for contemporaries. We were not ultra sounding back then so I don't have any scan data on her.

The rest of the pictures are random shots of cows with SAV Bandolier 1916 calves in their everyday working clothes. All the pictures were taken on 07/24/05 except those of Lucy 4198.

These cows are production cows. They are the kind that go out and get the job done all by themselves.

I will try to add more pictures of the 2005 bulls and heifers later on.

The following are a few pictures of cows and calves
that are doing it on grass only, no creep.

TO 1916 Lucy 422, a Bandolier 1916 daughter that is 10 years younger than her grandam Lucy 4198. There is a group of 2005 Bandolier 1916 heifer calves above her, that's right, they are baby heifer calves.

Sorry I cut her nose off in the picture. Here is a 2nd calf
Sitz Alliance daughter with an 02/04/05 Bandolier 1916 heifer at side.

Same cow and calf only I got the nose in this time as the calf
was still trying to nursing while her mother is moving away from me.
